Thursday 14th may Noah didn’t put on any weight today but he didn’t loose any either so that’s a good thing. I decided to sleep in today and didn’t go in till 11am. I went down to see the social worker to try and discuss options to help the kids with the transition as they seem to be quite confused about why Noah is still in there. She gave me some great ideas which I will try. I got to go up at 12 for Noah's feed and he was wide awake and rotting with his little hands for food. So I quickly changed his nappy and peed all over me again and I grabbed him and say down and popped him on the boob. He took a few tries but attached really well and have some great sucks. He continues to fall off as he gets tired but he did a realty good 10 minutes of trying. He had his 24 mls after and feel asleep easily. After I expressed then went up to the NICU/SCBU education session. At ten to two I thought I might go and check if he is awake and try another feed, to my delight he was awake again and looking for me so I quickly put him on the breast and he attached first time and sucked he didn’t fall off at all and stayed on for 15 minutes while he gulped away. In the end he fell asleep and I put him back in his cot then he woke up so I put him back on the other boob so for 5 minutes . Although he was not as strong in his sucks he must have got some milk. The nurse was happy she only gave him a 10 ml top up. I was so proud! I also spoke to the discharge nurse today about Noah coming home on the early discharge program which means he can come home even earlier (36 weeks) which is 8 days away. I am going to try really hard to get into this program and in the next week get him on 2 feeds a day and a bottle at night. As much as I don’t want him to have a bottle I don’t want to have to get up and go in during the night for him to be asleep. I will speak to the doctors and nurses tomorrow. I am so excited tonight I hope for another great day tomorrow.
