Names again
Predictions of an Ark
Clairvoyance- is the apparent ability to gain information about an object, location or physical event through means other than the known human senses. For me this is a man I nursed for the last 12 months. He is a quite fellow who was very friendly and loved a chat when he was in the mood.
3 months before I conceived he approached me one day down the hall way to explain to me that he was sorry about the others but we would have a baby. I asked what he was talking about and he said he was a Medium and just knew stuff. When I questioned it he didn’t talk about or recollect the fact he had said this. I considered it a weird behavior and dismissed it. Later than month another staff member was at morning tea chatting about the fact this patient had come to her saying her headache she had was arthritis and to get her knees checked out. With no knee pain or anything she dismissed it but later was diagnosed with arthritis in the left knee which referred the pain to her neck and head. She approached the patient about it again who once said that he knew and he was glad she feeling much better. The other staff members didn’t flinch they knew… he had predicted things for all of them and when people had ‘made fun’ or questioned his ability he pretended he didn’t know what was going on but once people had accepted it was happy to have helped. I found this patient had predicted engagements, sickness, deaths, even tooth aches. So I approached him again saying he was wrong I was pregnant. He stated that I would have a baby before the middle of the next year (2009) and would be a boy named Ark. I laughed and agreed and said I would let him know if he was correct. Wasn’t till I got home and told Aaron about what he had said we clicked that ‘Ark’ was a nickname for Noah, which is the name we both loved. SO in September when I found out I was pregnant I pulled this patient aside and let him Know he was right I was pregnant and due in June. He didn’t seem shocked at all. Later that month he decided to leave the facility to move closer to his family. He gave me his address and thanked me for his care.
Yesterday at work a staff member came up to me and asked if I was pregnant. I was shocked she didn’t know with the way my stomach sticks out. She said wow … was right. Wonder if it is a boy and his is Archie. I said ‘why Archie” she said the patient had said that was going to be his name. Once again worked that out too we were told Ark as in Noah’s Ark a name like Ark is Archie. So I came home and spoke to Aaron and he loves the name Noah and thinks Archie is a cool nick name (cause you cannot shorten or long Noah) SO another idea for us to toy with. Will see just how psychic this patient was. If he is right I will call him and let him know.

Midwife Care
OK I have one benefit for being with psych unit at the hosp... I had a tantrum today I saw a different Ob again and I had to go thru again all my history and everything they asked the same questions and wrote the same shit down the others all wrote. I was then told induction was another possibility.... WHO KNOWS WHY?? didn't give a reason... just 'u know'. she called me a liar that my U/S was on 2/2 cause her record says 9/2.... but she wouldn't call to confirm and when I did WAS the 2/2 Anyway so I walked out and sat and waited another hour to get another appointment. SO I left and came home frustrated and pissed off decided I am not going back. so I called my MH nurse and said my grievance asked if I could still get the psych hosp support (which I need) so she went to birthing unit got me my own midwife and then rang back to say I was not going to see the doctors anymore. I could have my own Middies and birth in the birthing unit. Which is sooo much nicer than the hospital. I was not to see the ob and only see my middies and my psychiatrist and they would communicate without the 'high risk team' so I wont have to have my preg dictated too. I am over the moon. She said home birth was still out of the question with the risks associated but birthing unit would suit me much better and I wouldn't be bullied into every single test and poke or prod possible. WOO HOO NO MORE INTERNALS EVERY FORTNIGHT!!! SO am feeling much better...
I have also contacted the Northern Women's Community Midwifes about having a homebirth and care at home with psych care still thru Belinda. They think there is a possibility but no guarantee. Will see next week when they call if I am eligible...

Bargain Hunter
We have been bargain hunting everywhere and have got so much stuff for the baby it is really starting to sink in that he or she will be coming in a few months. I am also very relieved at the amount of money we have spent and saved on buying second hand. I know the most expensive part will be the disposables like nappies, bubble bath and wipes. Clothes will be too but I am hoping we can use heaps of hand me downs.

SO yesterday I went to the second hand baby shop in Modbury and got a change table. It is the most yukky green you have ever seen but it folds up nicely and funnily enough matches the 70’s décor of the house. Cost $20
We have been watching eBay like a hawk and managed to get a cradle with linen for $100. Most of the linen is pink but I think if it ends up being a boy I will give it to friends who are having a girl. The cradle is huge but doesn’t have a mattress and it seems quite hard to find one too. But we will because I am the bargain hunter queen.
Through EB trading room I managed to get a Glider which I have always wanted to breastfed in for $75 and came with a free pram. I am so over the moon the glider is so perfect and makes me feel like a real mummy.
